wrist BP monitor

Am thinking of getting a wrist BP monitor.   Would have to place my wrist, with the monitor, over my heart.   Would that interfere with the pacer?   thanks for help.

Nope

Nope, you are good!

Today's pacemakers are advanced enough to shield against all but the most direct electromagnetic waves from electronics (like falling asleep with your cell phone on your pacemaker). The wrist BP monitor type that you are talking about will not interfere at all

It won't inerfere, but in my experience they are just not very reliable.  I use a traditional cuff monitor, the same model as my doctor uses, which costs about £30 or $40.

No problem.

No problem. I use mine everyday.

And got to disagree with Andy. Some wrist monitors might not be accurate, but the Omron Intellisense monitor is guaranteed to be accurate and I find it gives the same readings as at the doctor's office.

Thanks for the comments on a wrist BP monitor.   Now I'd like to know about wearing a neck medical alert device...It would have GP capabilities....can I wear one with my pacemaker?

Stop worrying

Even as I write this I am wearing a medical alert device--one that has GPS.

Let me put your mind at rest. Virtually nothing, no device, no battery-powered gadget, no ipad, no iphone, no home appliance, no wi-fi, nothing that you are likely to encounter outside an industrial setting is strong enough to affect your pacemaker in any way.

Today's pacemakers are practically impossible to break and are well-shielded against electro-magnetic interference. But just in case . . .they are programmed with all sorts of internal failsafes, which would keep them working no matter what.

In today's complex world it seems liike there's something new to worry about everyday. But your pacemaker isn't one of them.

You know you're wired when...

You can feel your fingers and toes again.
