Surgery & Recovery

PM placed 02/12/18. Overnight for antibiotics via IV. Severe reaction to anitbiotics--otherwise placement went well. Three days later feeling much better as the allergic reaction is subsiding.First time ever being allergic to any antibiotics, so just bad luck on that.

Sorry about the reaction to antibiotics. Glad you're feeling better now and hope recovery is easy from here on.

hi TT

I am glad you over you AB reaction.I also had a PM put in on 12/2/2018. I am 44 yrs old and a long distance road and trail runner. I am recovering well so far. It is a patience game... I believe we have to behave for 6 weeks!!! How are you doing now despite your AB reaction?

I am doing well and the allergic reaction is   s l o w l y   getting better. I woke up this morning on my implant side, with my heart racing from an intense dream. Heartbeat slowed; hope I didn't mess anything up being on my side. You are right patience is the "thing" something I'm not great at. I am pretty active too. I don't feel like I got a lot of instruction on the six week timeframe, but I'm being careful about not lifting my arm over my head. I'm still using ice periodically throughout the day and not using much in the way of pain pills. So your surgery was February 2? Ten days before me. I have some travel lined up in April - hope I'm up for it!

Going to check with docs next Tuesday about some light exercise. I've only done a little walking so far. Take care--I love this site. Everyone so supportive and positive!!!

Hi again TT

i am glad you feeling a little stronger. My PM was also put in on the 12 Feb so we one week post surgery. I was instructed to only lie on my PM side to let the leads settle. Perhaps check with your Dr whether your sleeping position is correct.  We apparently good to travel by air 10 days post surgery. The challenge is to not allow that 90 degree arm lift or carry any heavy luggage. You should be great to travel by April :)

Sleeping Position

Funny how you hear just about everything regarding sleeping position. I try to stay mostly on my back, but I'm not going to stress it so much. Just sleeping is important (for me)! LOL
