How will I know if I lost a lead

One July 22, 2011 I had a PM implanted. Since then I have been on and off this forum but reading some of the posts regarding losing leads I have become somewhat paranoid.
I am 16 days post PM implant and feeling sort of OK considering I am in Afib. HR resting is steady 60. Had a checkup 6 days ago and all OK (except for Afib).
But...How would one know if a lead is lost?
Are there symptoms?
I don't have another checkup for 2 weeks.
Thanks in advance for any info

Bruce. Its normal to be paranoid after this procedure, you should try bypass and a month later get the pm.defib implanted. The mind is a powerful thing, if we dwell on something long and hard. Pulling a lead out is pretty hard at 16 days but not impossible, as long as your not jerking your arms up over your head and not lifting to much wieght you should be ok, if you experience shortness of breath, lightheadness, pains in your chest by all means contact your doctor or get it checked out in the ER. Dont be afraid to call your doctor and ask questions, thats what we pay them for. Take a deep breath and exhale as long as your doing what you have been told you should be alright. When in doubt ask ask ask, I was probably the biggest pain in the u know what, I was lucky after my bypass I had home nurse come in once a week for 6 weeks that helped.
try and relax
