Arm Soreness

Good Morning Fellow Pacers.  I'm a 63 year old female in very good health.  After 2 unexplained fainting episodes a pacemaker was implanted 8 weeks ago.  Surgery went well and all seems to be going as it should.  My question:  How long should I expect my arm to continue hurting?  I followed the doctors suggestion and limited use of it until my 6 weeks check-up.  My range of motion is poor and it hurts all the time.  I ask at the device clinic about seeking physical therapy and they said it can be arranged but should not be necessary.  This site has been quite helpful so please let me know your thoughts.  Thanks!

I had the same problem you did.  I limited the use of my left arm and my left shoulder almost froze.  I went for physical therapy for a few weeks and after that the shoulder was fine.  That was seven years ago.  Now I play golf, surf, play softball etc.  Just get the physical therapy now.  You have a long happy life in front of you.  Do not wait.

How well I remember the arm pain...it will go away! I was very impatient and it just seemed to drag on but one day you will wake up and be playing tennis (or any sport) at though it never happened. I do admit it was intense for about 7 or 8 weeks...

Hi Seashoregirl.  How perfect to hear from you today.  I woke with my arm so sore and told my husband I'm just tired of hurting.  I'm nearly 11 weeks post surgery and have been going to PT for 3 weeks.  My range of motion has increased a little but my arm is no less sore.  Your profile says you live in SC -- so do I.  Small world!  How long ago was your surgery?  It is encouraging to think I'll wake one day to no pain.  Thanks for your comment.
