CRT

HI my mum has just had a CRT pacemaker fitted. She has been such a youthful 84 year old, doing yoga, walking gardening but for the last 6 months she has had no energy. Last week she had her pacemaker fitted. We had hoped this would give her her Englert back but not yet😒

i was wondering if others could let us know if they noticed improvement straight away or did things improve over time. Unfortunately they had trouble finding the right spot for the third wire to the left side of the heart so we are wondering if CRT is going to actually help her.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

It's going to take a few weeks for her to bounce back from the surgery, for her heart to get used to being paced, to get the drugs out of her system. Most do eventually feel better, but it doesn't alway happen as quickly as we'd like.

Me too

Hi. I had a CRT-D implant last week too. I am 9 days post op. They had trouble finding a good position for my 3rd lead too but my EP said he perservered and was happy with the position he finally got it in. It is near a nerve so I sometimes feel diaphragm twitches but hopefuly that will improve.

I am finding I have a bit more energy each day. I still get quite tired, especially as I cannot find a comfortable position to sleep in at the moment, but each day I do feel a bit better and am able to do a bit more indoors. I haven't gone out yet apart from 2 short walks with my husband.

I was told by my EP and CRT-D manager (I am in UK) it takes 3 months for heart to fully heal internally from procedure and 8 months for heart to remodel itself from 3rd lead pacing. They told me I won't feel an immediate effect. So I am telling myself each day is better than yesterday and by the end of the year I should feel great! Here's hoping. Each case is different though, depending on underlying cardiac condition etc.

Hope all goes well.

Best wishes

Janey

Yesterday I moved to a new place in my mind and realized how bad I felt 'before' and the difference my pacemaker has made.
