So much anxiety (Tilt-Table-Test etc.)

Good afternoon from the UK, lovely people!

I’m so sorry I’m pestering you once more again, especially since I don’t even have a PM and for all I know, may never actually have one.

I’m so eternally grateful I’ve been referred to an Electrophysiologist, however, with a confirmed date for my Tilt-Table-Test, anxiety is really setting in big time now.

I’m worried I fail it/don’t pass out and nothing changes and I have to keep coping with the Bradycardia and everything...

Don't sweat it

Don't worry. You don't have to pass out for the test to be useful. They will be constantly monitoring your heartrate and blood pressure, and so will get an idea about how your body reactst to stressors. And if you don't pass out on your own, "dey haff vays" to encourage passing out. [evil grin]

I did pass out when we got to the ice water test, but the difference the test made for me, was that will all the monitoring my EP was able to see the need for some tweaking of my pacemaker settings that has made a lot of difference. I haven't had a near-syncopal spell since.

I too have brady-tachy. Now that I know how much better a pacemaker made me feel, I think I needed a pacemaker for years before I was finally diagnosed.I didn't know why I felt so terrible some times, but fine at other times. I remember well the frustration of  trying to make plans, never knowing if I would feel like it when the day came.

Don't stress about the test. Hang in there. Keep communicating with your doctor about how the bradycardia is limiting your life.

No sweat!

Tilt table changed my life. I wasn't nervous about the test. They monitor you every single second. I needed an answer for my declining health, fainting spells, night sweats with a pounding heart, fatigue, unexplained shooting pains, and constant dizziness. I fainted after 17 minutes on the table. During that time they lowered me, elevated my feet and put cold compresses on my head. I felt good. I walked out and waited for my results. The nurses can't tell you anything. I got a call from the doctor that I needed a PM. I was more scared of that! Now that I have my Micra PM, I feel amazing!!!!! I was lucky to find this club just days before my surgery. I have found that my condition is common, but the kind of device you get depends on your doctor and your health. You got this! Don't stress! Take the steps to get healthy! It will change your life. Listen to your doctor or get a second opinion. I researched my doctor and made sure he was board certified and had no malnpractuce against him. Do what makes you feel safe. Good luck to you!
