Anyone else with Lupus too!

I was just wonder if there is anyone else out there with a PM and Lupus? I'm 44 and have had lupus for 15 years. My doctor does not seem to think my heart problem is from lupus but I was curious if it might be.

I don't have Lupus but my mother does and they think that's what caused my complete heart block. I was diagnosed with it at about 1 month and my mother was diagnosed with lupus when I was 10 or 11. They didn't make the connection until I was about 18 but now I love picking on her and blaming her for my heart condition. (teasing of course) Hopefully I never get diagnoswed with it but in mu family we have alot of medical problems. It's hard to remember them all at times. My mother and her twin have lupus, thyroid prblems and then colon cancer runs on both sides of my family.

Hi Karen,

The first thing my EP wanted me to do after my PM was go see a rheumatologist and get tested for Lupus. She said in younger patients Lupus can be the cause of heart block. My tests were negative so that didn't cause my heart problem but she was concerned.

I have read research stating that there are connections to heart block and your mother carrying the lupus gene. My mother has Rheumatoid arthritis, she doesn't have lupus, but both are autoimmune disorders, so I wonder myself if there is a connection? So with you having Lupus, I think that very well could be possible.
