Specific pain in chest after flu

Hi, I'm 9 months post ICD placement. I had bad bought of influenza a month ago with alot of intence coughing.I still have a less intesne wet cough. Been on antibiotics.  The last week I started having a pain in my middle chest. I can pinpoint the specific spot, left of breast bone. It is not associated with deep breathing or anything else, just random pain. Has anyone else experienced anything similar. I'm concerned i may have moved a lead with very intense coughing.

Dislodged lead? Not likely.

The leads are held in place with scar tissue on the inside. After nine months you can be sure the scar tissue is fully developed. Look at the scar you can see on your chest. There's no chance that anything but a surgeon's scapel is going to open it. The same is true on the inside.

Chest pain with coughing

I agree with Gotrhythm, having tried to extract a few pacemaker leads in my time, they are extremely adherant.

Your problem is likely to be muscular-skeletal pain brought on by the coughing. Often there is local tenderness.  Any cough that is not settling after a few weeks should be seen as a sign of more serious lung illness.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
