Newbie here

Just now removed the bandage for the 'reveal'.....anyone else see a 'golfball' under their skin and is it because of swelling?  How long before the swelling went down?  Granted I am petite and weigh little over 120, but yikes!  It's my new 'best friend', so I don't mean to complain but it is just a little difficult to look at.

Thank you for some encouragement.

Some swelling is normal

Some swelling is normal at first.  The incision scar should heal first then the underlying tissue.  I've heard everything from 40 to 90 days.  Swelling will go down depending upon your body type.  Some faster than others, some slower.

I think it took my pacemaker implant site a year for the swelling to fully go down.  I'd get up some days and you could barely see the swelling then other days it would be obvious.  If I was dehydrated it would stick out more.  Now, four years out, you can barely see it.

So the swelling does get better.

Hope everything else is going well for you.

Don't judge it yet! It will get better. Ice may help. If it's been more than a month and still swollen sometimes a heating pad on low will get rid of residual fluid. It can take up to a year for it to heal and settle in fully.

I like that, a positive response to having a pacemaker fitted, even if its the first time, i recall when i first had one fitted i was a bit daunted by it , a little upset, i felt not the man i use to be. but i opened my eyes to it and had to make a positive from what i thought was a negative, it worked for me, not me for it,..

Getting back to you though, TracyE is good at giving sound advice, her words and experience speak wisdom in this area, yes it will get better...

I felt like I had half of a hard boiled egg in my chest at the beginning.  Can’t remember exactly, but I think it looked pretty good in a month.

Good luck!

Have written the site thru 'contact us' email address to find out simple way to thank you to those who give feedback....haven't heard, so going this route.  If there is an easier way, please let me know.

Amazing how my concern is greatly minimized by all the encouragement, and I want to thank each and everyone of you for your feedback!

The way you responded here is the right way. In fact those who start a totally new thread or Topic to continue a discussion are also doing it wrong and makes it difficult to follow a discussion.

"Contact Us" is strictly for contacting the site administrators and not for replies to posts. By the by you also have the ability to send private messages to members just click on their name shown in red
