Implant questions. 7 days out

I am 7 days out and at peace with the PM, but concerned about my golf swing. I am an avid golfer and my game is improving. Now i see this as a set back maybe. I am concerned that as a righty, the left side placement will get in the way.

I have heard regular placement is ok, others say ask for it to be lower.  The more I read, the more confused I am.

Any words of wisdom?

It's unlikely it's placed so that it will be in the way. They are very small and settle in as they heal. Where it is now is likely protruding more than it will once you're back to playing golf.

A lower placement is helpful if we are active, but many surgeons do that now automatically.

They put it on the left whenever possible because that's the closest path to the heart.

It's not totally clear whether you've gotten your pacemaker implanted yet or not. If not I'd suggest you do have it placed lower than normal or in the opposite shoulder. My first device was indeed a problem for my golf swing. As I drew back my device would hit the clavical and I couldn't get a full backswing. I'm a right hander and now have my latest device in the right shoulder and no problem. This one is also placed on a diagonal which may have helped as well. Either way, it won't help improve your game.

I had the standard placement and was playing golf in less than 6 weeks. At first it seemed I could feel the PM when I swung, but that soon passed. It also didn't hurt my swing or score. Actually, my first time out, I actually scored better than usual. I think I slowed down my swing and was smoother. No problem though, within a few weeks I was back to my old bad habits.

Don't worry, Just go out and have fun!
