One year on a St Jude Pacemaker.. opinions needed 100% dependable

I have a St Jude dual lead Pacemaker, Just got my one year check up and was told I went from 60% dependable to 100%. I really dont know what to think. They are talking about changing me to a 3 lead unit.  I am 66 years old decent health and decent shape.

Why wouold I go fro 60 to 100 so fast?  What is the prognosis for me? My cardio guy sent in the ST Jude rep  and nurse practioner to inform me but I really dont understand all the lingo.

are you dependable?

What you really mean is you are 100% dependent as in you depend on the pacemaker keeping your beats regular. That being said, you really don't provide enough information for us to provide a reasonable explanation. Let me suggest that you go to the St. Jude's web site and read up on your device and your heart condition then if you have questions we may be able to help. A lot depends on your diagnosis as to why what when where

Many of us pace 100%, that in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. Why do you have it? You might want to sit down with your cardio and get a better explanation. Has your function (EF) dropped? That's the main reason to switch to a CRT.

They're also used for those with an AV block (either AV disease or, as in my case, because of an AV ablation) to maintain ventricle synchrony.  My EF is normal but they're trying to prevent ventricle remodeling caused by one ventricle beating early, pushing against the other.

HI Mr.Bergenett,

My name 's LIEN, I come from VIETNAM which is a developing country in Asia. My father also was implanted an imported pacemaker of ST.JUDE MEDICAL (Minnesota, US) by Major, Doctor. Đặng Việt Đức 2 years ago, in Military Central Hospital 108 in Hanoi, VIETNAM (Hanoi is the capital of VIETNAM). My father is older than you. Dr. Đức is pretty familiar with me. I am very grateful to him. This is a good doctor. He is pretty friendly, responsible, kind-hearted, lovely, honest, confident. He also represented for VIETNAM to join Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society 2017 in Japan. I am very interested in this. He is good at English. The heart issues concerned to pacemaker.

At fisrt, my father and I also fell in worry like you, then after, I know that it is a normal sign of electricity equipment. It is pretty normal. You should not be worried about this. At present, my father's PM also runs 100%. He still lives with me everyday. He is pretty healthy and happy everyday. I am also happy with this miracle. He can go up and down staircase very normally without shortness of breathe, tiredness, it is very very normal, wakes up and has breakfast everyday, talking with everyone that he meets. My father and I also debate issues everyday. Please trust in scientific world and modern medical equipment. I also really say Thank you to Scientists of Medical Equipment around the world for their innovation. Pacemaker is a medical equipment that is very popular in many countries, many continents. You are continued to be happy with your daily life. You should restrict to absorb cholesterol in your meals.

At present, American scientists has launched the pacemaker without wire since 2017. This kind of pacemaker is suitable for patients who has intricately tangled blood vessels, vascular malformation. The scientific world is very beautiful.

Good luck to you and your family! Live healthy and be happy!

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.
