What you are feeling and going through is quite common for heart patients, most notably those who the heart disease comes as a surprise.

I was snowmobiling in Yellowstone, got attacked by a vicious pine tree and thought I'd broken a rib. Found out it wasn't quite that serious, had a quad bypass, mitral valve replaced and a CRT-D stuffed into my chest for good measure. Surprise ! Went from being a Jet Setter to just a Setter.

It's easy to become angry and bitter, but you've got to recognize you need help. We all have to find our own way of coping and accepting what is. My advice is to Talk to your doctor and family and get professional help if need be to overcome this before it spirals out of control. Mental health is not something to be ashamed of. I try to keep a positive outlook and look at the humorous side of my heart disease and not dwell on the negative.

You may also find it helpful to join a support group like Mended Hearts  (www.mendedhearts.org ). That's a group comprised strictly of heart patients and their caregivers who get together and share information and talk. There are branches in most states.

I wish you luck in your journey
