Entresto

I have had congestive heart failure for years and suffered a cardiac arrest in 2008, when I got my pacemaker.  My ejection fraction increased but early this year it became so low I had to wear a life vest until I couldn have my upgrade to an ICD.  I was put on Entresto twice a day before my implant.  I was very excited at the prospect of having some energy and being able to do more.  However it has been 2 months since and I have become even more exhausted and sleepy than I was before.  My regular doctor thought it might be the Entresto and we decided to test it by not taking it for a week.  After 3 days of no Entresto I felt much better.  I don't return to my cardiologist for a few more weeks and he isn't aware of this change.  I am at a loss as he had told me Entresto would greatly increase my energy by strengthening my heart and even increase my survival time.  Has anyone else had this experience with Entresto?  I want to take it for the benefits to my heart but I feel so bad when I do, is there an answer?  I have numerous health problems.  I hope someone can help me.

Entresto

If you look at the studies on Entresto, it does in fact work miracles for some people...however that's only about 20% of patients tested who benefitted.

I experienced Angio Edema, a potentially fatal side effect. At 2 months it's highly unlikely you will benefit and should contact your Cardio about another treatment plan. What you are describing is a side effect, don't take it anymore.

And this is what irritates me is overselling the benefits of a treatment then patients are even more devastated when it doesn't work for them. It's one thing to stay positive it's another to lie about a treatment. It does a lot of harm.

Entresto, continued

Thank you for commenting!  I know you're right.  I only stopped the Entresto 6 days ago and by the 3rd day I felt so much better.  I am calling my cardiologist to ask what could it be replaced with.  I have taken the maximum Coreg for years and another that I can't remember the name of, but it was discontinued when I began the Entresto. You are so right, I am let down big time but I believe positive thinking and a heart healthy lifestyle can go a long way. I am happy I found this forum today.  I'm also happy to learn it's not just me.

I've been on Entresto since February for CHF with no noticeable side effects.Slight hyperkalemia. I was being treated with carvadilol and lisinopril. Still take the carvadilol. Hope it works out for you.

I still take Carvedol, have for years and years.  Cardiologist discontinued Lisinipril when the Entresto was added but it will have to be added back.

I do feel better.and have 2 little tomato plants in containers on my patio.  I was SO proud of them, then my son sent me pictures of his container garden on his back porch, which was awesome!  I sent him back my 2 little plants.  He ain't getting ahead of me!  I try my best to remain positive and as active as possib le.  I appreciate you guys so very much.

I'm in my fourth day of my second round of trying Entresto.  I can tell immediately that I'm more fatigued and bulding up fluids. (Urinated out 6 lbs fluid this AM after taking a 40mg furosemide tab). I'll do the 36 hour washout and return to lisinopril use.  There won't be a third try!
