still fainting

I am x4 week in and have fainted twice post pacemaker.  I have had it tested once and was told was working ok but very little information.  I have to get it tested again next week.  I am still passing out and because they took the cardiac loop out when they put the pacemaker in  I seem to get very little information re these recent fainting episodes.  They do not seem able to connect time and dates etc.

I am very worried that I went through my procedure for no purpose I got the PM as my heart was pausing for 4.5 secs I have SSS by the way.

Is SSS your only issue?

What sort of pacemaker?  Mode?  Number of leads?  Just guessing, of course, but you may also have a heart block, though I can't imagine your EP not finding it.  More information is needed but this isn't something to take lightly.  You say "next week",  Is that like Tuesday?  If you pass out again, it may be time for the ER, if for no other reason than to push things along faster.

It's important that your doctors get to the bottom of this.  We can only guess and that won't help you anyway.

diagnosis?

Do you have NCS, by any chance? If not, ask for a tilt test if you haven't already had one.  That's a combination of drops in heart rate and drops in blood pressure. The pacer can keep the heart from pausing but it can't control blood pressure so it's only fixing half the problem. Meds and diet can help with the other half.

did it fire when you fainted? If it did, then it was doing its job so if everything checked out then it would make sense to have you follow up with your doctor next week.

Just a thought ..

... there are other things that can cause fainting, such as low blood pressure as a result of dehydration.  Not sure if this is likely, but I remember a doctor telling me when I became a type 1 diabetic that not every ill feeling will be because of the diabetes.

There are many meds that have light-headedness as a side effect. I have never fainted, but I still get light-headed. That could be part of your problem. Good luck; ask lots of questions, and make sure they give you answers that make sense! Bring a friend to take notes.
