Tired

I had a pc put in 3 weeks ago. I am still very tired and sleepy all the time. Is this to be expected.

Thanks

i had pacemaker put in 3 weeks this coming Monday

Yes.. This procedure can drain you. The docs told me to take it easy, no exercise for 6 weeks.

taking it easy all by itself, gets me tired; I am use to exercising and getting the blood circulating.

I get up every hour now just to get some in some light movement. As time goes I will gradually increase my activity. I would rather do too little than too much. If tiredness persists or worsens, I would discuss this with doctor.

Not me

My EP told me "no gym" for a month (another EP at the device clinic told me to wait another two weeks) but they said I could walk as soon as I felt like it.  In a couple of days I was back up to walking 10mi/day (15mi, including treadmill, is my normal).

I'm almost at three months and I still get light-headed, though.  This week was pretty good, following a really bad week.  I think I've read enough here to know that there is no such thing in our lives as "expected" anymore.

If tiredness keeps up, speak up

Although I fetl better immediately, I stil found I tired easily for several months post pacemaker. I was disappointed because I'd had the idea that the pacemaker would fix everything and I'd go back to how I felt before the SSS came on.

Tiredness can have a lot of causes. It's possible you just need more recovery time. But certainly something I didn't understand was how small adjustments to the pacemaker could make a big difference in my energy. One time I had a base rate that was too low, another time an upper limit that was too low.

Which settings are right for you is based on how you feel. Your medical team won't know how you are feeling unless you tell them. Don't be shy about asking if adjusting your settings could make you feel more energetic.

Still tired

When I was implanted 03/18 I read all the questions and answers in here. The advice given over and over it seemed was give it 6 weeks. So I put into my head I wouldn’t worry or fret until after six weeks.   I was amazed at how good I felt almost 6 weeks to the day. I too was tired.  Just be gentle with yourself. All these people went before you and I so I trusted them.  I can’t believe that now I’m giving advice just 3 months out. Slowly you’ll return to your old self.

You know you're wired when...

You have a $50,000 chest.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
