Rashes 9 months after Pacemaker

I got my pacemaker over 2 years ago, about 9 months after I started getting rashes. First starting around my pacemaker incision and now moving throughout my body, even on my face. It starts as a red rash and gets darker and darker. It has now been going on for over a year. I've been tested for allergies and results show I am not allergic to anything. The doctors do not know what it is and think it may be eczema. I truly believe the rash is directly related to the pacemaker. Any one else wiht this experience? any insights? advice?

If the testing didn't show allergies and it started 9 months after, it's not likely it's related to the pacer. If you were allergic to the metal, it would have shown in the allergy testing. Are you on medications? I get a similar reaction from aleve, took me months to realize that caused it because it didn't do it every time I took it. Any other changes, like detergent or pets or shampoo?

Who are you seeing for it? Dermatologists are usually more about making it look and feel good than figuring out the cause. When I went with the aleve rash they offered cream to make it feel better but no insight whatsoever into what could be causing it. Cardiologists don't do much outside the heart so they're just going to tell you it's not the pacer. Allergist or infectious disease specialist? If it started at the incision, it might be worth being evaluated for infection. It doesn't sound like infection but cover all the bases. Good luck!

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
