High resting heart rate

My resting heart rate has been going up to 136. Sometimes it lasts for hours. Has anyone had this happen?

Hi Heather

Tachycardia , which you have, can't feel good. You really need your HR bringing down, probably with tablets initially . It is not life-threatening but you should see your doctor as soon as you can

Best of luck

Tachycardia

This is not pacemaker related. You have a medical condition that needs sorting.  Last time it happened to me, I was able to show the doctor I had an ongoign intermittent arrhythmia as I have a little ECG( EKG) monitoring device ( Kardia, cardiac monitor).

Yep, happens to me all the time which is why I sport a CRT-D (defibrillator), but mine is much much faster. As the others said you have what is known as TachyCardia- which is Latin and Tachy means fast, Cardia means Heart. Now 136 BPM is not a dangerous speed in and of itself, although it can cause increased risk of blood clots, but they need to get that down. Likely medications will be used to manage the condition.

Tachycardia

In late Jan 2012..............6 solid months of NSR after a fourth and seemingly successful atrial ablation by a TCAI E.P., I developed a 125 NSR heart rate.  TCAI E.P. seemed unconcerned. He or his nurse would ask, "Well, how do you feel?" I felt OK but, I know I'da felt better if I had a heart rate of 72. Weeks passed & that EP did nothing. Then a major A-Fib event erupted  early May, 2012. I could barely walk. Next day, different E.P. offerred another try (woulda been my 5th) at finding the "hot spot" in my atria.  I declined, and settled on A-V Node ablation with pacemaker. My life improved immediately, but I had developed a cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart). A heart failure specialist I hooked up with had this to say: "That E.P.'s inaction was the primary cause of your developing heart failure."
