Wound area

I have a marble size lump at scar sight, is sore at times no redness but annoying. Pacemaker implanted January 24th. Just developed and should I be concerned?

Hopefully it's nothing but you need to be evaluated for infection asap. Don't let them brush you off, insist on cultures. If it is infection, it needs to be treated quickly and aggressively.

Question for TraceyE:  How does an infection start, under the skin, after five months?  Mine has been four months and it's still quite sensitive to the touch.  I have small bumps about 1/2" lateral to the incision.  They're quite like the scaring from my sternotomy but much smaller.

Infection can happen any time. Roughly 1/3 of us carries staph/mrsa. I don't know enough to explain how it can flare up, but I think it gets on the metal. It's  a small risk, but it's always there, regardless of when the implant was.
