Hello, I had my biotronic pacemaker fitted 2 months ago after collapsing whilst out. It was a huge shock. I am 58 and have hadvthese episodes over 10 years which were dismissed as anxiety or pani . I sometimes got dizzy for no reason and I thought the pm might fixedit but woke up with a spinning head again today. Is th his common? SUSIE

Dizzy

I've had my PM for four months,  after having a few near blackouts (and other issues).  Even after the surgery,  I've had episodes but not as bad and fewer over time (the last one was about two weeks ago).  It's quite possible that you need your pacemaker settings adjusted.  Just a guess but perhaps your resting rate is too low.  Do you know what it's set for? My EP set mine high at first and said he'd adjust it down over time. It takes a while for the heart to get accustomed to a pacemaker.

Dizzy much?

There are lots of causes for dizzyness, some of which the pacemaker can help, and some it can't. You don't say what condition your pacemaker is supposed to help with and not knowing  makes it harder to guess what's going on.

I suggest you keep a log of your dizzy spells and contact your doctor.

Lots of causes

There are many reasons for dizzy spells.  You say that you have had them over ten years.  Most of us with cardiac issues are on various heart medications.  Some of us take prescription medications for other reasons.  One item to explore is whether you might be having a medication that is contributing to your dizzy spells for so many years.  I had exactly that problem a few years ago.  My cardiologist changed that medication to another one and my problem was corrected immediately.  Recommend exploring further with your doctor.

If you are dizzy, its from your heart.  Time to notify your doctor and get it seen to.
