Pulling wires

My dd had her pacemaker when she was 3.5 in 2016.  We own a trampoline park and she used to go all the time but one day I freaked out that would jumping on the trampoline pull the wires?? Her doctors are not worried but I think it may happen... has anyone had a similar experience?

Not going to happen.  The heart tends to twist along with the chest nothing is going to get wound up (except,  perhaps,  you). Listen to your doctors. That's why you pay them the big bux.

Personal experience

In 2007 had a new lead installed in March.  Roughly 6 weeks later, got T-Boned by a Jeep Cherokee doing 35 MPH.  Took the right door post in the right shoulder.  Had to cut the car from around me w/ the Jaws of life.  Hewad went thrugh the passenger side window.  8 broken ribs, broken collar bone, coapsed RLL of lung, lacerated liver, bruised kidney.  Oh, BTW, thewy didn't check my PM for two weeks, till I got to my Cardio, who had a cow ovewr that oversight.  The impact was so great that it started to tear my heart from its moorings - namely the AORTA.  Now THAT can be serious & it takes quite an impact to do that!

Bottom line - Cardio was AMAZED that there was zero effect on either lead - especially the new one.  He picked up his cell phone & caslled the EP who installed th new lead.  His message was "Steve - What the H$#@ did you put that lead in with?  Concrete?"

Let me know if that trampoline dislodges anything - you willl make it into the Guiness Book of records!

Not to worry your motherly little noggin about the trampoline after this long a time.

After 2 years, scar tissue is what is holding the wires in place. I bet it never occurred to you to worry that jumping on the trampoline will make her pacemaker scar tear open.

Why didn't you worry? Because once healed, scars don't pull apart.  It's something everyone knows without ever consiously thinking about.

The scar tissue holding the wires won't pull apart either. At this point the wires are part of her body and are not going anywhere.

I feel like I need to point out that your child is alive and feels good enough to enjoy vigorous play. That's wonderful! That means you've done a lot right.

But your child learns what to be afraid of by watching you. The experts have told youjumping is harmless. Do you really want to teach her to be afraid of having harmless fun?

You're a good parent. But irrrational fear can be hard to conquer without help. The best thing you can do is seek some counseling.

I don't wish to be unkind but if you keep it up, your fear will cripple her, and kill her joy at being alive, far more surely than having a heart condition.

You know you're wired when...
