Newly Implanted Pacemaker

I’m a 69 year old female, & my dual chamber pacemaker was implanted on Monday, 6/25, due to bradycardia. Feeling foggy, slightly dizzy, slight headache. Is this normal? Stopped taking pain meds on Wednesday, but taking Prednisone Pack for recent knee replacement, Losartin & HCT for BP. Had been taking Verapamil for tachycardia for several years, but Doc took me off of that on Monday, pre- surgery. Appreciate any info. Thanks, pmp

The fourth day

I didn't have any lasting issues, at least like this, but it wouldn't have surprised me.  Your heart has just been through a pretty significant trauma and it doesn't seem all that strange that it would take a while to get used to its new environment.  Your EP does know about all the drugs you're on, right?  Prednisone kinda scares me but if your EP knows about it, I'd be OK with it.

You should be getting better soon.  If not, call your doctor.  If it gets worse, call an ambulance.  You may need some tweaks to your pacemaker.  Everyone is a little different but I don't think I'd worry about this yet.

Clarification please

Just wondering, you said you are taking Losartin and HCT; as far as I know, HTC is the name of a blood test and not the name of a medicine. I can only comment on Losartin: never any problems & verapamil: a wonderful drug (calcium channel blocker) for treating my PSVTs when I was young, but not an option for treating my AFIB or Aflutter that have plagued me from my mid 40s to mid 50s.  As for the foginess, dizziness, and headache, they are all common. normal symptoms occurring after a pacemaker implant, probably as a result of anesthesia more than from the procedure itself.  Please check in again for more feedback.  Wishing you peaceful rest and recovery. ~Jane

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
