Low pulse rate

Hi

my PM is set at 60. My pulse  today has been in the 40s  and I feel my PM trying to raise it up it is uncomfortable like pounding .   Has anyone else  had to deal with this?  I thought if it’s set at 60 it could not go below

Low pulse rate

Hello.

I also had a very low heart rate 30bpm bradycardia and they put in a dual lead medtronic pm and set it at 60bpm August 2017.

It never drops below 60bpm. Almost a year later and I am still feeling very tired and dizzy. Especially if I get stressed or do anything type of physical exercise.

You should get that checked out asap !!!

Especially if you are having any syncope fainting as I was.

Best of luck to you. Go to hospital and check it out. Better to be safe :)

Call you doctor

Is your pulse in the 40s all the time, or just for a few seconds at a time?

If it's consistantly in the 40s, something is wrong. Call your doctor immediately.

If it's just for a few seconds at a time, but then your pulse returns to 60 or higher, something might be wrong, or you might be having PVCs--uncomfortable but normal. Call your doctor Monday.

Thank you all

Hi so, pause is back in the 60s.  YAY  I just had my PM checked out 2 weeks ago all good got 5 more years on the battery.  Today it has become PVCs  im sure part of that is because I was so uncomfortable last night and did not sleep.  I am so hyper senitive to mine I feel everything it is doing  so, it gets me pretty stressed.  :(  Thank you all for your feedback.  It means so much to have a support group  who know what you are dealing with.

Low Pulse Rate with Pacemaker

Lori777:

As you discovered many things can make it seem as if your pulse rate is dropping below base rate of 60bpm. The most common causes are premature ventricular contractions (PVC's, extra beats from the bottom chambers) and premature atrial contractions (PAC's, extra beats from the top chambers). Sometimes your automatic blood pressure cuff will give inaccurate heart rates because it may only calculate your heart rate over a brief period of time such as 5-10seconds then extrapolate the heart rate over a minute. Next time you are worried, count your own pulse for a full minute and you'll see that your heart rate (even with PAC's and PVC's) will be close to the 60bpm you are looking for. Finally, PAC's and PVC's are annoying but generally harmless. Nice thing is, with a pacemaker you can take medicines to reduce the symptoms from PAC's and PVC's and not worry about slow heart rates.
