Sudden tachycardia

Hello. I have had my Medtronic exactly two years and in the last 6 months I had 8 episodes of tachycardia which I never had before. I have just been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Anyone out there with similar conditions?  Thanks.

Since day one I have had tachycardia episodes and across time the number has increased.  They put me on Amiodarone after it triggered for the second time and it seems to have settled down a little.  Now I just have to worry about the side effects of the drug!

Thabkx for your responses. guess I should clarify about my new tachycardia

I get episodes of tachycardia as a response to my weakened left ventricle and reduced pumping in my right.   My ejection fraction is just below the normal minimal of 50 so the tachycardia could be my heart’s effort to compensate for the low output. I will see my EP in a few weeks to discuss options.  Just want to add that I take 200mg of over- the- counter CoQ10 everyday now since my blood levels showed it was practically nonexistent.  I feel so much better!  I’m hopeful.

interesting....

Couple of things I found interesting in your post.  I wouldn't consider an EF close to 50 to be low.  Mine is 10-15% on stress test, 17% on angioram, 24% on echocardiogram.  For the CoQ10, I looked at that and tried it as well, no help for me however Vitamin D has helped some along with Magnesium and Calcium.   I also take L-Arginine.  All are related to heart rythm/electrical pulses.  Also for the tachycardia, after going through a cardiopulmonary rehab program I was able to determine that my tachycardia occurs right after my heart rate goes above 94.  Looking at the monitor strip it shows I throw a couple of PVC's and then get 10-15 fast beats of around 110-130bpm.  If I stop and breath slow and deep, force a couple of coughs it eventually comes down to normal. I have longstanding ischemic cardiomyopathy and have been dealing with this for over 20 years but only have the ICD since Jan 2017.  We all respond just a little different to all the therapies so "your mileage may vary".  Hope some of this helps.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
