Heart rate

I’ve been having episodes of racing heart this summer, usually lasting hour or so.  My Pacemaker is set to prevent low heart rate.  I live in the (hot) Midwest.  Anyone have this if exposed to 85-degree-plus temps?

90 degrees in the shade

Rapid heart beat is a sign of heat stroke and shouldn't be ignored. My heart isn't really capable of speeding up on it's on anymore, due to hot weather or anyting else. LOL  It has been over 90 here for the last five days, and even though my heart doesn't race, without question, the heat affects me. I walk the dog only in the early morning and after dark, nevertheless, I find I'm able to walk less than half as far as ususual. Outside, I feel hardly able to move. The dog is not happy.

Heat is a stressor for anyone, putting more demands on the heart in the body's effort to cool itself. For those with heart conditions, hot weather can represent a serious threat. There's not really anything one can do about it but pay to the signs one is getting overheated and limit the amount of time spent in the heat.

Rapid Heart Rate

If I were you I would call my cardiologist.  It doesn't sound like heat stroke.  If we had 85 degree temperatures in Texas we would be wearing coats.  Your question about racing heart  aren't trivial, again, I would call my cardiologist.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
