Simple arm restrictor

Just had PM implanted and woke up in middle of night with my arm raised too high over my shoulder. Had it checked out next day and all was still good with the PM.

To insure I didnt do that again I just took a length of narrow string and fashioned a 4 ft length consisting of one small loop that fits over my left hand and one larger loop that goes over my left thigh. This totally prevents me from raising that arm or elbow over my left shoulder while being totally comfortable while sleeping. Now I dont worry about pulling any leads out while asleep.....simple, cheap and completely EFFECTIVE!

You really don't have to worry

You really don't have to worry about raising your arm even if you do it in your sleep.  They tell you to take precautions so you don't go out, do unrestricted movement, and really hurt something.  Forgetting and just raising the arm is rarely going to hurt something.

If you look through the forum you'll see leads usually come out on their own not because someone has done some unrestricted movement.  Won't say it doesn't happen but from the posts on the forum it's rare.

Doesn't hurt to take precautions, just don't get paranoid about it.

Hope everything else goes well for you.

penalties for early withdrawl

congratulations you invented your very own Frozen Shoulder Syndrome sling. It should keep your arm down, and the frozen shoulder only took me 6 months of expensive therapy to get rid of.

This is much ado about nothing. By all means follow your doctors instructions, but don't get crazy about it you can actually create worse problems like frozen shoulder which rest assured is excrutiatingly painful. Raising your arm above your head periodically isn't going to hurt anything, they put in a service loop in the leads which allows your body movement without applying tension on the lead ends. In fact my doctor replaced all three of my leads and when I asked about keeping my arm down he said there was no reason to do that.

You know you're wired when...

You can feel your fingers and toes again.
