Expectations as a military member

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with SA Node Dysfunction this week after several syncopal episodes, and had a PM placed. I am an active duty Air Force Captain with 5+ years remaining on my commitment. Are there any members of this community who have insight about what to expect in terms of medical review board and what my prospects are for being retained for service?

Those are your chances of remaining on active duty.

The reason is quite simple - the DoD cannot afford the cost of providing the specialized support a PM host requires overseas. Especially as a pilot.  Your flying days for the USAF are over - witness what happened at the traffic light. I, as a highly qualified C-130 passenger, do NOT want you driving me around the sky.  (I  had my first flight in an A model in June, 1958 - hard to believe that the bird haas been around for over 60 yrs!).

But I digress - there have been at least half a dozen military folks here w/ the same questions.  It takes a while for medical discharges..  Plan on at least  4 months, even though the situation is cut & dried for PM hosts.  During my Army career, I know of only ONE man who was kept on active duty - a Col with over 25 yrs active duty.  He was a very special case however.  A very special , very short, MOS (AFSC) , comptroller type who could be stabilized near civilian PM suport facilities.

Sorry, Slush, but that's the way it is.
