My Pacemaker/Defibrillators Song

I've been experienceing my body having weakness throughout, and joint pain.

I heard a noise coming from my chest area and thought it was coming from my fitbit watch, unfortunately for me I ignored it for over a three week period.

I took my watch off last night to charge it and this morning I heard the same sound, my watch was in another room on the opposite side of the house. This time there was no doubt that that my pacemaker/defbrillator was making the warning sound.

Last year I experienced a shock from my device as I was waking up, so I know the differnce between a warning sound and a defib incident.

I read your submittals on line and almost just dismissed the incidence, but my better judgement made me call my 30 mile away hospitals emergency room and they asked me to come right in, and I was immediately admitted. The ER doc reviewed my ekg and made a call to a device technician. They found my heart was in a-fib and called a device technician from about 60 miles away and he made it to ER in about two very scary hours.

He reset my device to notify my Heart doctor if my heart goes into a-fib again, apparently my devices remote unit had never been turned on. As it would have notified my doctors office at the same time I was hearing my unit in my chest.

In closing if you have a Medtronics Model 24952 and you hear it chiming in your chest. Call your Doctor and go to your nearest hospitals ER!!!!

AFib

Well, unless there are other issues, AFib isn't particularly dangerous, in itself.  I've been had AFib and AFLutter for almost 12 years (constantly now).  It can be a real PITA but it doesn't sound like you had any symptoms. It's usually pretty easy to manage, particularly if you're asymptomatic.

However, you can bet I'll be calling someone if my PM starts making noise (it won't be because of AF or AFL, though).

You know you're wired when...

Intel inside is your motto.
