Low lead impedance

I heard a low warning sound from

my icd last week and was told my atrial lead was reading a low impedenece. The device technician was not concerned . It happened again with a different technician and she called saying she will talk to the dr tomorrow but it is probably a lead failure and may need to be replaced. Has anyone had this? Thanks

Changes in impedance are the first sign a lead is going bad, doesn't mean it's bad now. It sounds like it's still pacing, if it wasn't you'd have heard from them by now! Sometimes the insulation ruptures, sometimes scar tissue builds up on it, anything that makes it take more juice to get the signal through will show up on the report. As long as it's pacing, they can often watch it for now and take care of it when you have your next battery. Mine was showing a change for 5 years before we did anything about it.
