I was wondering

what everyone thought about this watch? I'm actually thinking I want to get one. Mostly for the exercise monitor. I'm really bad at pacing myself during runs and sometimes I feel like I'm not pushing hard enough because of it. But I wont' lie, that EKG feature piques my interest!

Watch Heart Monitoring

This surprises me about the Apple watch.  I have a heart monitor watch and my cardiologist quickly showed me how easily it is fooled.  First of all, it has to be up on the arm and, of course, it does not want to stay there as you move.  Secondly, any kind of perspiration interfers with its ability to obtain an accurate reading.  If it moves, it looses.  Therefore, I wear a dedicated heart monitor on my chest that communicates with my watch via Bluetooth technology.  This alos allows me to monitor heart rate while swimming.  The results are accurate.

I don't have one. I posted the article because I thought others might find it interesting and it has some handy uses beyond exercise.

When I run, I use an interval timer and my running watch tells me my pace. Mine is old and cheap, does not have heart rate function.  I've never found a monitor that works for me so I've learned to pace myself by how I feel and my breathing. If I catch myself singing along to the music, I know I'm not pushing hard enough. My rate is all over the place and isn't usually related to exertion. Some people can go by target heart rates, but many of us with heart conditions do not fit into neat charts.

thanks, yeah I am the same. I used my old garmin forever and got tired of wearing the heart monitor. This was way before i knew I had heart issues. But I never can sing alont (I don't know if I'm just not fit or not) but I can get to wear I can run and not pant the whole way. When I was increasing my distances I would do a lot of sprinting to help with it. Also I try to run on a lot of hills so that I'm naturally running harder. My problem is I get cuaght up in a book and forget to actually work out, ha ha. I'm still trying to get back into shape but did catch myself in a total pace the other day so...LOL. But I do want to see if this watch works better with my heart rate. I know for a fact the elliptical doesn't work at all when it comes to reading my heart rate...

Thanks

Thanks TraceyE.  You're always on top of things.

Still using my fitbit.  I figure as long as I can keep walking and talking at the same time I'm doing OK.  Still haven't got the walking and chewing gum down yet.

Love my Apple watch

I love my apple watch, I used it when I was doing my cardio rehab and the heart rate was spot on most of the time with their monitors. I just ordered the new one although I'm not sure the ecg will be much use given that I'm paced 100% of the time.

You know you're wired when...

You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.
