Lightheadedness

I've had my device for just over two weeks and have experienced some lightheadedness and a slight loss of equilibrium .Any one else out there gone thru that?

Low blood pressure or dehydration?

by LondonAndy - 2018-09-15 07:00:02

Your symptoms could be explained by dehydration.  If you have a home blood pressure meter, check that the lower reading is not going below 60.  Are you drinking plenty of fluids?  Especially if you are on a water tablet.

Lightheadedness

Did you have these symptoms before you had your PM implanted?  I get light headed feelings all the time and ocaisionallly worse.  I just keep telling my doctors about it so they're aware but so far they haven't gotten excited about it.  If it gets to where you feel like you're going to pass out, or even fall, complain a lot louder.  Also, see if you can find a pattern.  Does the feeling come on when you get out of bed?  When you stand quickly?  ...or at some random time? Let your doctors know if you can find a pattern.  Keep them informed but, from my experience, no one is going to get very excited about lightheadedness.  It seems to come with the territory.

Not the pacemaker

Light-headedness is such a vague symptom, and has so many possible causes that by itself it doesn't signify anything much. There is no reason to believe it has anything to do with your pacemaker.

For causes, look at dehydration, electrolyte balance, and medications--just to name a few.

Probably not the pacemaker

But the cause could be the same as earned us a place in this forum - and it isn't solving all of the problems.  "Lightheadness", to me means "dizzy without the spinning, falling down, or passing out".  Same thing - lesser extent.

In my case, I don't think it's any of the above, Gotrhythm.  I can't correlate it to anything real.

Dizzy

Vestibular issues should involve "spinning" ( the direction tells the docs which ear). Mine feels more like falling forward,  without any visual effects of bending forward. Often I'll smell something just before..

The "dizzies"

I have daily bouts of lightheadedness, often to the point of a brown out (not quite blacking out, but feeling like I'm going to).  I only started having these episodes after getting my PM and they tend to happen if I move too quickly from one position to the next (standing up from sitting, taking off to walk from standing, etc.).

For years all I got was "it's a side effect of your medication" ... but I'm no longer on any of the meds in question so that doesn't fly with me anymore!

The best reason I have been given that actually makes sense is that my blood pressure takes that little bit longer to catch up to my body when I change from one position/activity to another.  It's hard to change the way you've moved all your life to be slower at standing up and I'm constantly forgetting.

Thank goodness for my BF as I reckon I'd have had multiple broken noses if it wasn't for him being there to hold me up when I have my dizzies getting off the train from work!   :-D

You know you're wired when...

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.
