Left Side Sleeping and Strange Clicking sensation

I had my pacemaker implanted 5 June of this year.  I'm still having difficulty sleeping on my left side because my pacemaker pushes into my collar bone and it's uncomfortable.  The other bazarre thing, is when I lay on my left side I can physically feel and hear a faint click with each heart beat.  It's like my heart is a mechanical device and I can 'feel' a metalic click of each beat.  When I roll onto my back or lay on my right side it is gone.  Any suggestions on sleeping on my left side and what this clicking sound could be?  Many thanks!

It can take more than a few months to get comfortable sleeping on the left side, but the clicking is not normal.

Sleep on left side

I had a lot of trauma from CPR.  They re-separated my right shoulder and damaged the left.  Consequently it was a real long time before I could sleep on my left side.  Same problem as you.  The pacemaker would pinch between my shoulder and rib cage.  Not fun.

But eventually I was able to sleep on my left side.  Somewhere around the year and a half time frame but I had a lot more damage than most.  So don't take my time limitations as normal for everyone else.

Don't know about the clicking.  So I'd suggest you discuss with your cardiologist or EP.

Possibly....

Thank you for your replies.  I have a follow-up 5 Dec for the full MOT.  I've also had 2 follow-ups since the implant which included a chest xray and the diagnostic on the PM and all is fine.  Maybe I can get an answer in Dec.  It works great, so I have no issues there.  But I'm wondering if when I turn on my left side, maybe a lead is pressing hard against a rib and the beat of my heart is getting transmitted through the bones so it sounds and feels like a click?  A mystery yet to be solved!

Yes, it's possible a lead is moving when you turn on your side. It's not supposed to do that, they are supposed to be anchored in place so they can send a solid signal, so I would not wait until December to find out if that's what's going on

You have other issues that your doc needs to check into in December.

I too have pain sleeping on the left side.  This helped for me: I got two baby pillows and position them to make it more comfortable.

I too can't lay on my left side , it's like it squishes & hurts ! I have constant pain against my collar bone , it's been 7 months since my implant !

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
