Pacemaker

When I get up after lying down the device shifts a bit under the skin. It’s not painful, just feels strange. I’ve only had the implant for two weeks. Will it stabilize in time or do I have to get used to it sliding down slightly when I get up ?

Awfully creepy sensation!

I know it well, i had it for the first 2-3 weeks and then once enough scar tissue was formed around the pacer, it felt infinitely better - so no worries, it won’t be long now!

Sensation of movement

It's been 3 weeks since my surgery, and I still  have a brief sensation of something there when I first get up from lying down. Not exactly movement, but I do feel something. It goes away once I've been up for a minute or so. It was much more noticeable right after the surgery. I am glad to know that should continue to get better as the scar tissue forms around the device.

It does seem to be helping  to wear a sports type bra night and day.

We're all different....

And for me, it's coming up on 2 years, and I still occasionally feel like it's going to slide out of my armpit.   Guess it's all in how we're built and how it was implanted.  But like most things, you get used to it.

Movement

My ICD is pretty stable except when hanging upside down at the gym or running fast, so I put my hand over it for stability.

Bobthom, it sounds like yours either wasn't stitched into place, or it was stitched but came loose.

As the others said, as scar tissue builds around it, it should get more stable.
