Tremors Went Away with Pacemaker

I had hand tremors that were so bad that I sometimes put weights on my wrists to better eat dinner. After I got an emergency pacemaker for asystole/bradycardia, the tremors abated significantly. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know why this might have happened?

I now what you're talking about

Yes, I too noticed a big improvement in hand tremors after receiving a pacemaker for bradycardia. Nobody knows why, but then, the doctors didn't know why I had the tremors in the first place.

I had some trouble with (undiagnosed) PMT after getting the pacer. Over a couple of years it gradually got worse and worse. On the days I had a lot of heart symptoms, the tremor would return.

Finally, the PMT problem was resolved and the tremors went away again.

I have no idea what the connection between the heart and hand tremors might be, but I know there is one.

Thank you so much.

Is PMT pacemaker mediated tachycardia? I know there is a pacer for the brain that is used for tremors. I wonder if a cardiac pacemaker bears any resemblance to the pacer that is used in the brain for tremors?

You're welcome

PMT is Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia. In my case it was PVC-induced PMT. I think it took two years to diagnose because the PVCs brought on the tachycardia only under certain circumstances.

Brain pacemaker? Honestly, I don't know, but I have a hard time seeing how a brain pacemaker would have any resemblence to a cardiac pacemaker. I don't think it's the cardiac pacemaker per se that diminished the tremors. More likely, I suspect it's the steady supply of oxygen to the brain, which is an effect of a steady heartbeat, which in turn, is caused by the pacemaker.

Your explanation makes sense to me. I'm very happy to have the tremors virtually gone and, more importantly, to have my heart working again. Thank you so much for your help.
