St. Jude Monitor

I have a St. Jude Monitor and plan to move soon. I have been using a landline connection for it.I just had a thought. Will my monitor work in my new place?  It is a brand new building. When I get my phone service hooked up will I continue to be able to use my monitor? What to do? Worried Help

new landline should be fine but....

Since it's dialing out, as long as there's a dial tone it should be good.

But,  if it needs to dial long distance instead of local now you may need to change that.  Also if they have a "dialed from" check in the system, and I don't know whether or not it does, you'll need to have them update with your new number.  Either way, you should give them a call just to be sure.

Have a safe move and don't lift anything to heavy!

Or get a new one.

The newer ones use the cell network.  There is very little (no) setup.  They just work, as long as you get cell service.

Thank you for answering. I have been paying over $50 a month for the landline and had been considing getting a bundle with my internet and cable provider for my phone when I move. It would only be $15  a month. Then I thought about the pacemaker. About how much is the adaptor and how does it work. Thanks

"Get a new one"   We can get new Monitors? Please elaborate.

I have no idea how mine was paid for, to begin with. It was never billed as a separate line item.  In fact,  I've never seen any billing for device checks or remote interrogations either but I'm sure it's being paid somehow. Cell companies aren't known for their charity work.  ;-)

Check with your device clinic and tell them you no longer will have a land line (I haven't had one for more than a decade but they didn't know that).  They'll have some way of upgrading the box. Keeping a land line around for only this purpose is nuts.

My phone bill has gone up each year and I read that subscribers to landlines were paying so much to help cover over things. That's why I decided to get something else if possible.

I joined here when I 1st get my pacemaker and I have always got answers that helped me. I haven't posted anything here in a long time but I read the recent posts every day. Thanks everyone.

One more thing...

The phone line you get through the cable company isn't really a "land line" and won't work.

The cell phone adapter is easy to use and works anywhere there is cell service. Just call whoever monitors your device. They can help you. Piece of cake.

The cable company said their phone service was digital. So I should be all right getting the phone bundle with them and getting an adaptor for the moniter. Another question - will the monitor then be connected to my router?
