Ph Testing

Can Ph monitoring  be carried out if you have a pacemaker device. Has anyone had the Bravo or Heidelberg test done. They involve small electronic devices to be swallowed or inserted in chest area so I would guess they are not allowed????

I can't see how a pacemaker would matter but I've certainly been wrong once or twice.

Just because it's electronic

Just because it's electronic doesn't automatically mean it will interfere with your pacemaker.  A lot of electronic devices are on the wrong frequency to bother pacemakers and the newer devices usually don't have enough power to bother the pacemakers.

The Bravo reflux testing capsule, (at least one) is made my Medtronic.  Medtronic also makes pacemakers so I feel there was a good chance Medtronic made a check to make sure their Bravo capsule didn't interfere with their pacemakers.  Maybe not, can't prove it one way or another as it is a guess on my part.  But I feel as least someone at Medtronic should have said, "Hey, let's check this out."  Not good PR if one device made by your company interferes with another device made by your company.

Worst case is you send a note to Medtronic.  If you have their pacemaker you can send the note that way, if you don't send your note to the Bravo department and ask if they know of any interference problems.

Hope you get good answers from your reflux testing.  Also hope you are getting along well with your pacemaker.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
