MRI SCAN

How do you find out if you can have an MRI scan when you have an ICD-my husband device is 3 years old and is St Jude Quadra Assura-any relevant information appreciated

All pacemakers made in recent years are MRI compatible but if you're really paranoid (or just a geek), look up the manual online.

Some facilities can handle it, some will not. You might have to do some research and check with his ep, but it can safely be done on most any device/leads less than 10 years old.

Robo has a good point.  My EP told me to go to a hospital, rather than an "MRI in a box" if I ever need an MRI.  Hospital staff are trained on the proticols and will have a PM tech available if needed.
