3 days out

I'm 3 days out from getting a PM installed.  Feel tired most of the time and a little bit woozy a few times.  Shoulder and arm sore.  Pain at site.   Par for the course or should I be concerned?

par for the course!

Are you icing? That will help with pain.

Are you taking pain meds? They can make you woozy, and depending what anesthesia you had it can take a few days to get out of your system. If you're still feeling off Monday you might want to give them a call.

Slow on the uptake

Not icing; no pain meds.  The pain is not that bad; just some sharp "pinches" if I move this way or that.  Will ice up.  Thanks.

simple solutions like ice really help. lots of sleep helped me. you will surprized how rest and time really helps. the emotional response i had took awhile but got thru it. we are so blessed to have this available and some more years to be here on this earth. remember about reaching above your head for about 6 weeks i believe. take care . jessie

3days out

Par for the course. It takes some adjustment. Give your body a chance to adjust to its new normal. I rushed my return to work and in hindsight should have taken it a bit more slowly. It's a mental adjustment as well. I had been treated for high blood pressure but the incident that sent me to the hospital and to have the implant was bradycardia. I was implanted in April and there are days when I'm acutely aware of my device and days when I don't even think about it. Finding a comfortable position to sleep in took some time.

take care

Slow on the uptake -- Now 5 days out

Am doing pain meds and icing now.  Also sleeping-in a bit.  Less pain and less of a zombie.  Am fortunate to be retired so there's no compelling reason to hurry the recovery except to complete my autumn chores.  I guess they'll just have to wait.  Thanks all.

Steps

P.S.  Walking upstairs (15 steps to the 2nd floor) has me breathing hard.  Not totally breathless  but definitely sucking air breath.  More par for the course?

stairs

I've never quite understood exactly why but many, many of us huff and puff going up the stairs. That said,it's possible to need your settings adjusted if you find yourself getting out of breath too easily or not having the stamina for activity. They send us home with a good guess but no two of us are alike so fine tuning is often needed. Mention it at your first check.

Stairs

Thanks Tracey.  Before the implant I was going up stairs, walking the dog, doing yard work, (including felling and removing trees) without huffing and puffing.  Except for the one incident that promted the need for the PM, I was much more able than I am now.  I will definitely need something.  Thanks for the tip.
