Exercise and work after my first 4 week pac maker check...

I was a bit underwhelmed by my pacemaker check.... I must admit, I was expecting to at least get some advice as to when I can start doing arm exercises, planks, that sort of thing, and although the medical staff in attendance did everything necessary with the pacemaker, they weren’t very helpful regarding going back to work, or indeed, the fitness questions and advised me to get in touch with my doctor?

I have a very physical job, with a lot of pushing and pulling... and with no such thing as light duties, would be expected to get straight on with it, mainly because they are very short staffed at work, and no, I’m not daft enough to go straight back, I would like to know how other people with pm have got back into work routines and such?? Any advice would be welcome? Thanks in advance... x

I too have a very physical job. However due to other permanent disabilities I have a permanent 20 pound weight restriction. I returned to work 6 days past surgery. I was pretty sore for the first week or so, but the pacemaker gave me renewed energy. It’s now been 6 weeks since surgery.

Wow! That was quick! I do actually feel quite well, but I have been given more time off from work... (4 weeks) I am actually looking into the possibility of early retirement though as I am 60 years old... I’m actually doing a lot of walking over the next few days, and then starting some of the gentler exercises I do, along with some healthy eating, but I have a new medical erm ‘project’? to deal with now....

Anyway, look after yourself and keep going from strength to strength...
