Hot tubs!

Do you pacemakers use a hot tub?  I’ve enjoyed my life since the arrival of my pacemaker 2 years ago.   I finished the 3521 mile Amerithon!  I don’t know why I’m nervous about it, I take showers!

I read her post.  Guess I will be doing some talking to my doc and my pacemaker clinic.   I’m going to Ck with Medtronic also!

If anyone is worried about the temp effect on your device, they are way off base.

It is already totallly enclosed in a metal case, so it has to be capable of opoerating effectively in temps at or above 98.6 degrees F.  It has been in that temp environment since the minute they closed up the pocket!  If the same device were implanted in the abdomen, the situation is even more extreme  - the device isd a LONG way from the skin, so there is no chance of  it getting cooling from external environment. Look at how HOT the environment is inside an amplifier or radio - or for that matter - any other electronic device  Integrated circuits are capable of operating g well at te,ps considerably above the ambient temp in a human body.  If you fear for the temp effect, just keep th shoulder above the water surface.  The device is NOT the weak link in the system.  It may be your BP, or some other facvtor NOT associated w/ the PM.

In short, challenge any comments made   about the vulnerability of the device.  That device is tougher than you are.
