Worsening abdominal pain

After my device was implanted in my left chest to treat bradycardia my abdominal pains have been slowly worsening. I believe I’ve been tested for everything that would cause abdominal pains by the GI doctors. They come up with nothing that could cause chronic abdominal pains.

So I decided to ask on here to see if anyone has endured chronic abdominal pains since their pacemaker was implanted.

Ive been suffering from this pain since about 6 months after the implantation of my MRI safe pacemaker. They started as a annoying pain and over the years they have slowly progressed to chronic abdominal pains that worsen when I am active. My pacemaker was implanted in 2012 if I’m remembering correctly

I wake up at all hours of the night bent over in pain. After I eat the pain gets worse. And also before, during and after a bowel movement I’m in severe pain & bent over, just as I am when I awaken and after I eat. It doesn’t matter what I eat !  Whether it’s a bowl of soup or a full meal, it’s all the same.

If anyone has any idea or has also had the same or similar symptoms, please reply. Actually I’m at the point to where I will listen to anyone that may have any suggestions.

Thank you

But don’t fibro cause pains in more places than just the belly ?

from what I know about fibro is that it’s a nerve disease and we have nerves all throughout our body

Hiatal Hernia?

by BOBTHOM - 2018-11-21 22:33:21

Might be a hiatal hernia.  At least that's what they're exploring on me.  Though the reality is that if it is, there is nothing they can do about it.  Of course mine started before the implant and has gotten worse across time.  Hope you figure it out and please post back so that others can learn from your experience!

Hernia

I had my gallbladder removed prior to the pacemaker. I believe it was bout 2010. I was told that he repaired a hernia that he found when he went in to remove the gallbladder. So I don’t know if there’s another one.  I’ve had MRI’s and cat scans along with colonoscopies and many other tests. Will a hernia show up on a mri or cat scan ?

my doctor has sent me to two different general surgeons to look inside and they both declined to take a peek. I asked if it could have been repaired with mesh and they said no. I don’t know how they can say no if they have no clue how the hernia was repaired. I’m at wits end with this pain that never stops. I’ve lost over 50 lbs due to this pain. I would allow a surgeon to make a small incision to look but they won’t for some reason.

Thanks for the comments

To much risk to operate....

For me, with my heart and lung problems (ischemic cardiomyopathy with EF 17% and COPD with FEV1 21%) the cardiologist would never sign off on having tubes put in and being put under.  My pulmonologist is the same.  The risk is just to great.  There are some great videos on youtube of the orthoscopic surgery and it looks pretty straight forward.  Maybe with a few more medical advancements they'll be able to do it on me.  Just have to hold out until then.  Meanwhile I have always been a slender guy at 5'11" and 180 lbs, 5 years later, today I'm at 148 lbs.

Can you summit the pain in any way?

I am experiencing something familiar, but it inclines when I totally exhale. It is to believed to be a short circuit of one of the leads to another area or organe of the body. Causing involuntary muscle cramps.

It’s. a burning cramping pain right under my belly button that is very bad when I wake up and when I eat.

Its worsened over the past six years and started not long after my pacemaker was implanted. The cardiologists say it’s not the pacemaker, but no doctor can tell me what is causing it.  It’s hard to explain. I’ve never felt. Pain like this before.
