Issues every 8 hours

My PM was installed 9/7/18.  Since then I thought I was having arrythmia (as I used to), but now I believe it is a setting that does something every 8 hours, on the hour.  7 a.m., 3 p.m. & 11 p.m.  I've logged it and that's what it is.  Does anyone have this same type of scenario going on?

In addition, it was necessary to have mine on my right side due to lympnode issue due to cancer.  But when this 8 hour timing thing happens, there is something that causes a huge PINCH up on my shoulder muscle near my neck.  Any ideas?

I honestly cannot believe my doctors or the St. Jude tech didn't tell me about the every 8 hour scenario.  I made multiple phone calls and went back to the doc several times because of this.  Why didn't they tell me... did they not know?  Seriously about to find another cardiologist.

If you have any advice, it would be appreciated.

Many devices "self test"....

by BOBTHOM - 2018-11-27 21:37:11

My ICD had similar issues with "recalibration" that it did 12:30am every night/moring.  Many devices have some type of test that runs automatically.  You did a great thing by logging it.  Now you just need to call your EP and let him know.  Some of the tests they can turn off, some they can modify the schedule, some you may have to live with.  Only your doctor can tell you, well, the PM manufacturer can as well but they will recommend you discuss with your doctor.  Good luck getting it resovled!

PINCH - 8 hour scenario

Thank you Robin1 & BobThom for your comments.  I am new to the site (as you can probably tell), and there is some good info here.  This site is the reason I started logging the incidents.  I am very bothered that my doc nor the St. Jude dude told me anything.  These guys just slap something in your body and don't think it necessary to explain anything.  Like our personal lives don't matter.  I continue to be very frustrated.

As far as the pinch on my shoulder, the doctor did say that the leads could be hitting a nerve, which in turn creates the pinch.  I'd like to insist they fix that on their dime, but I really don't want more surgery!  What to do.

I knew I wasn’t going crazy 😜

Pinch

Hi. I am 4month with pm. 3x a day I felt a pulse, well 4 pulses. It is very strange. I went to my EP and he said it was a test being run.

He said he could turn off the test in my atrium not ventricle though bc I am pm dependent with NO escape (meaning I hv a few seconds to survive) if something happens with pm  I declined it to be turned off for obvious reasons .

i feel the same as you do...that they put in my device and see ya later.

left to my own devices to figure it all out

Sounds like it gets better as time goes by

good luck

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
