Hi there. I have a dual chamber MEDTRONIC Pm. I possibly might need surgery, however not anything related to my heart. My question is will they need to switch off my Pm for the duration of the surgery? Is it necessary? I look forward to some feedback. Thank you.

This is a question you want to ask your anesthesiologist. It's their jobn tyo keep you alive & kicking while under. If it's your big toe they are working on, probably not do anything to the PM. The closer they get to the PM & the more serious the surgery, the greater the chance they will manipulate your PM.
Tell us more abouit your procedure,. we'll tell you more about PM involvemenbt.

Hi, not long ago I had surgery (had my appendix removed). They do not need to turn your pacemaker off. But I did have an extra chat with the surgeon and the staff involved so that they understood why I had a pacemaker and what my ECG looked like and things so they would be prepared if anything went wrong.

Thank you all, my Dr will definately bring it to the Aneathetis’s attention. So all should be fine. Luckily not working near my heart area.
Appreciate. Take good care of yourselves! 🙂

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
No they won't

No they won't switch off your pacemaker. As one nurse told me, "It's important to keep the heart going." They might call in a pacemaker tech to monitor what's going on. Otherwise the procedure will progress normally. There may be some adjustments in some of the medications too but that's up to the doctors to decide.
Hope everything goes well for you and you are in and out quickly.
