Fed up

Hello all.... This sounds stupid, but I am fed up right now.  I have the stupid recalled St Jude unit that my doctor would not replace until it started vibrating.  Well, saturday night it vibrated, and it is probably due to a need for replacement.

It vibrated Sat night, twice on Sunday, so I thought I would wait until Monday and see if they contact me to ensure Merlin works the way it is suppose to.

Monday - no vibrations - I suspect the vibration part was turned off at the VA this morning.  No courtesy call.  I try calling the VA - I got hung up on three times, and placed on hold and never picked up at a different cardiology clinic.

I called to complain and got the obligatory "I get good care at the VA- so don't say we don't care".

I am done.  I don't care to continue with this stupid thing... I assume it was vibrating as an alarm to tell me the battery is getting low.  How on earth can a care facility turn an alarm off and never call the patient.

I am tired of dealing with the Veterans Administration --- and, I guess I have 3 months to decide if I want to even replace this thing and deal with all the hassles in life.

I am angry ....and I guess I just don't care if they don't care.....

When your pacemaker vibrate how did it just do it for 2 days and then stop or did it keep vibrating until you contacted your doctor.

Thanks for any feedback.  Carol

turning it off

It probably vibrated a certain number of times then stopped automatically. They cannot change settings remotely, only in person.

Usually an alarm is a 3 month warning.

You might want to contact St Judes, maybe they can get the cardiology clinic to pay more attention. Good luck.

Lawyer-Up

That is horrific.  St. Jude, huh?  Well, I would contact an attorney and since Trump has switched everything around propertly, in my opinion, you should be receiving 5 start treatment.  Thank you for your service, Sir.  I would contact an attorney and explain your situation or simply go to the ER and tell them the problem.  I guarantee that they will send a cardiologist or a pacer check guy to find out what the problem is and how much juice you still have left in your current device.  I would recommend calling a personal injury attorney and threatening suit.  Now, if they think you are going to sue, I would give all the paperwork to a loved one prior to surgery.  Call me paranoid.  But if something were to go wrong on the OT, a wrongful death or negligance claim could and should be made.  I believe most people have a good heart and are naturally good but the politics involved in this field is insane.  Don't go after the people who make your pacer, simply the people responsible for not effectively helping you through this stressful, rather highly stressful process.  God Speed, my friend.

Best & God Bless,

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
