scar fading topicals

Has anyone used one of those scar fading gel/topicals?  My husband's client makes one of these products and he sent me a tube along with a silicone strip to use to help flatten the scar.  Apparently, the owner had an emergency PM implant a year ago and he used his own product!  Worked well.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Bio oil worked for me

by LondonAndy - 2018-12-15 13:30:57

After the 6 weeks for the wound to heal I rubbed some bio-oil most days into my incision for a good 9 to 11 months I think, and that worked a treat.  I haven't rubbed anything in since, but when I had my 4th annual checkup in October the technician had to check with me it was implanted on the left as she could not see it!

Wow!  I was given NewGel, which is a silicone product.  I'm a bit leary of the silicone.  I'll check out the Bio oil.  Thanks.

...try "Tincture of Time."  Works wonders.  All natural; comes in tubes, bottles, foil packets. Also right out if the air.  Give it a year & there will be no evidence anything ever happened.

My MD Daughter recommends a smear of pettroleum jelly to keep the scar area from drying out.  I never did anythiong for my three incisions, all of which used the same incision line & all of them were/are flat, colorless & totally invisible.  Took a bit less than a year for them to achieve that condition.

Petroleum jelly

My partner was advises by a specialist dermatologist to use pretroleum jelly for his scars (not pacemaker related).  Didn't do a thing for me and it looked as if a keloid was forming so I'm using silicon sheets, which is flattening things nicely.

I asked a plastic surgeon. She offered to sell me something expensive but said keeping it moisturized and out of the sun is what works, doesn't much matter what use use as long as it's all natural and we use it regulary. Aloe, cocoa butter, coconut oil, vitamin e.

No creams near the incision

by Queen50 - 2018-12-17 15:50:03

I asked my ep about putting cream on my scar because it was so itchy. I was advised strongly not to put anything near it. He told me that trace amounts of water from the creams leak into said scar and the water stays there. He has seen the water get infected and he said it’s very difficult to treat the infection around the pm. So I itch away. I was putting vitamin E on mine prior to talking to him. Even the nurses at the pm clinics said it was a no no.

I was told that for 30 days. After that it's healed and ok to use creams.
