A fib after pacemaker

About how long do you continue to a fib following pacemaker surgery? When I do I feel a bit off.

thanks

Pacemaker and afib

The pacemaker doesn't do anything for afib.  Consequently you can continue to have afib regardless of the fact you have a pacemaker.

I'm on something called rate control so they use heart drugs to slow my natural heartbeat and limit the amount of afib I have, then use the pacemaker to artificially raise my heart rate to 60 BPM.  I'm in afib about 15 to 20% of the time.  Most of the afib is limited to a few seconds to a few minutes at a time so I usually don't feel it.

I have one of the Medtronic pacemakers with two afib programs.  My pacemaker constantly monitors for afib, and if I go into it for a while, the pacemaker will kick off the afib programs to bring it under control.  Occasionally I'll feel the programs kick in so I usually know I'm in afib at that time.  The sessions where the programs kick in usually last a few hours - it just depends.

Hope everything else is going well for you.
