Interferances

My husband has informed me that the only solution for his low heart rate is a pacemaker. He has thus far refused to get one as he is of the impression that he will have to find a new career ( not an easy undertaking at 60 ) He is a welder by trade and personal experience told me a long time ago that that was a no-no. Since having my old unit replacec I donèt seem to have an issue with my ICD. I am wondering if there are people out there with pacemakers that are welders and if so what (if any) is your units response.

If you do a search (little icon in the top right corner), there have been several discussions about welding and what's safe/not safe. ARC is not a good idea, other types are ok. He needs to talk to his doctor. Welding is one of the very few careers that would be a challenge with a pacer, however, needing it but not getting it could be putting his his safety, possbily his life, at risk.

How low does his rate get? Does he have a lot of symptoms like dizziness and fatigue? He is correct that there is no other fix. There is no exact time when it's best to get it, it's a matter of how much it's affecting his ability to do what he wants to do, how safe he is. Sometimes it can be monitored but not treated, sometimes it's best the bite the bullet and get it over with. He can't be welding if he's at risk of passing out.
