New Pacemaker

Hi just found out today that I need a pacemaker. New to the heart issues and feeling a little overwhelmed with this new chapter of my life. I am 61 years old and have never had any problems until Bradycardia was discovered in November. After all tests and an event monitor, Dr says Pacemaker 2/6/19. Just need a little info on what to expect. Thanks

First of all let me tell you that your life is about to improve dramatically and for the better. I would like to tell you not to worry but you probably will. I received mine in March of this year and didn’t have anything wrong with me until two day prior to getting it. Follow the drs orders to the letter and allow yourself time to heal. 6 weeks is about the turn around time if not sooner.   I used this site for questions I had and found it very helpful. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and make sure you move your shoulder by doing the exercises they tell you. Otherwise you ll develop frozen shoulder. I don’t even know I have my pm.

Your up comming PM

Thank you Queen and Philip. I have been reading and am feeling better about this. Went in for preOp, met my nurse and got to see my new best friend(Pacemaker). This will be first “awake” surgery so fingers crossed 🤞.
