Probably Medtronic, St. Jude, or Boston Scientific.  Personally, I'd go with what your EP has planned.  That's what you're paying him for.  You're worrying too much about the minutiae.

There are only 4 main companies out there, and they are all excellent. Biotronik is the last one. Some of them handle rate response differently but aside from any of them will do the job for most of us. You want the one your doctor knows inside and out because he/she will be the one programming it.

Pacemaker Choice

Lifestyle can play a role in selection, especially if you like to exercise regularly. As Tracy_E mentioned, different brands handle rate response (how the PM increases HR during exercise) differently. Medtronics, which I have, uses an accelerometer in the unit to adjust HR based on upper body movement. This, as an example, works well when walking or running, is almost useless when bicycling (very little upper body movement), and somewhere inbetween when swimming or rowing. I believe the Boston Scientific uses a completely different approach. It is worth discussing your priorities with your doctor in making a choice.

You know you're wired when...

Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
