Diagnostic scales and ICD

I'm thinking of getting a diagnostic scale to check my body water.

Is it safe with my ICD?

There is nothing in a scale that will cause a problem.  Bluetooth and WiFi are both perfectly safe around pacemakers.

Sometimes Scales don't work

Be aware, some electronic scales will not read/calculate BMI, Body Water, etc. correctly.  I have a PM and I've had mixed results.  Apparently they send a very weak current into your body to read the data.  In some models, the ICD or PM will interfere and you will get an very incorrect reading.  It doesn't affect the ICD/PM at all, just goofs up the scale.  Best to plan on testing the scale and be prepared to return it if it doesn't work.

Are these diagnostic scales, measuring body water etc, really working for us with implanted ICD?

scales that measure BMI

My understanding was we should not use the scales that calculate BMI due to the current. Anyone who knows me knows I don't avoid many things due to the pacer, but this is one thing I've stayed away from.

You know you're wired when...

You have a new body part.

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
