Not even 2 weeks yet

I've probably got less to complain about than anyone on here, 2 weeks ago I had no medical problems. An hour and a half after arriving at the heart hospital I was having a PM installed because of my 28 heart rate. The Dr. said 'you'll feel like a new man overnight'! Well, today was my first follow up visit and I feel worse than before the implant. I've still got occassional long pauses between beats, I feel tired and weak. They made some adjustments on the computer and added Lisinopril and carvedilol to slow me down from my rate of 106 today! Oh how I miss my carefree healthy days! I've also been referred to a Dr. closer to my home. I had an interview scheduled for a new job tomorrow (I'm unemployed), but Doc said to wait another month, said these meds are gonna really slow me down for awhile. Time really drags when you have nothing to do.

Lots of adjustments....

Yup, you'll see you will have alot of adjustments, to the pm as well as you life.  Hopefully only a few compromises.  It takes time for you and the doctors to figure out the best settings specficially for you, and those settings may need to be changed as your body changes going forward, so, be prepared for alot of adjustments.  And with that will come some adjustments to your life as well, hopefully those will be minor.  Good luck!

give it time

I agree with BOBTHOM- there are sooo many adjustments the doctors can make with your device and your medications. It really is trial and error and no two hearts are the same! And once a change is made, it also can take the body (and mind) some time to get used to it.

While you have time on your hands, why not do some research about your condition and device? I find that keeping myself educated allows me to feel like less of a passanger on the train of my heart disease. Plus, it makes me familiar with termonology thrown around at appointments! Chin up, it will get better!!
